Rebuild
You can rebuild your slice at any time, replacing it with a fresh install of the Distribution OS image of your choice. Any assigned IP Addresses and firewalls will not change.
Warning
Rebuilding a slice will destroy all data on that slice, replacing it with a fresh OS install of the distribution of your choice.
To rebuild a slice:
Select the OS image of your choice in the selection box.
Enter a password for the rebuilt slice.
Click the Rebuild button to proceed to the build screen. The process is similar to creates, except the slice name, IP addresses, and firewalls (if any) are retained.
Note
After a rebuild, SSH will give the notorious “WARNING: REMOTE HOST IDENTIFICATION HAS CHANGED!” upon trying to login again for the first time. This is correct and to be expected, because the host key has indeed changed due to the OS reinstall.
Tip
Slice rebuilds are a great tool for “test driving” other distributions. Also useful for speeding up testing and/or debugging deployments of your own software on different distributions.
